As you know, I recently joined the Canadian Women's Foundation as Interim CEO. In order for the Foundation to go through an effective transition process, the Board of Directors, and staff, have asked me to remain as CEO until December 2015. As a former Board member with a strong commitment to helping women and girls in Canada, I was honoured and pleased to accept their request. I have, over the last few weeks, met many of our donors, corporate partners and other stakeholders, and thank you for the generosity of your time, treasure and talent. Thanks to your support, and to a fantastic staff team here at the Foundation, we have been able to shoulder what has probably been the most challenging year in the history of this Foundation.
The one consistent feedback I have heard from you is the trust you have in this Foundation's ability to focus on the really important issues that matter to women and girls in Canada. As we sprint towards the end of our fiscal year on August 31, we want to say a very special thanks to you for continuing to believe in our common vision of moving women out of poverty, out of violence and into confidence.
Meanwhile, we have several exciting projects in the works. We just finished awarding 38 new grants to support violence prevention efforts across Canada. We’ve secured two spectacular speakers for our upcoming breakfasts in Toronto & Calgary. I guarantee they will inspire you to join our fight against the sex trafficking of women and girls in Canada! And in September we will bring together front-line staff from community groups across Canada to network and learn in Montreal – our goal is to build the capacity of programs that empower girls and help young people create healthier relationships and stop the violence, for good.
We are very busy planning for next year, and I promise to keep you posted on a regular basis. As always, we look forward to hearing from you and are just a phone call or an email away.
I am so proud to be part of this wonderful organization. If you want to learn more or have any questions, please get in touch!
