Must Reads for the Week of September 5th

Newspaper stackAs frosh week began, we learned about a disturbing sign at a Brock University dorm but were impressed by a new campaign raising awareness about consent through billboards right outside of colleges.  We were completely moved by one student’s attempt to raise awareness about rape by carrying her mattress with her on campus and a great article by Gloria Steinem and Michael Kimmel explaining consensual sex on campus.

Lena Dunham’s answer to the leaked nude photos of celebrities was right on point while one author reminded us that the violation of privacy is part of the thrill for men who hate women.

One newspaper’s headline about a female executive was simply sexist which had us nodding to one author’s rejection of 8 sexist words we should never use.

Patrick stewart explains how domestic violence is never domestic and an amazing free resource will help you better support a survivor of sexual assault.
