Caron is a business leader, an award-winning communicator, public/regulatory affairs strategist, diversity consultant and facilitator. Offering global, private and public sector experience, she operates the Caron Hawco Group, a consultancy supporting local, national, and international companies interested in pursuing and managing business opportunities in Atlantic Canada.

She is a specialist in oil and gas and industrial development with experience as an entrepreneur, a supplier, a corporate advisor and industry leader. She is the former Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas Industry Association (NOIA). Caron has contributed to shaping policy relating to local content and industrial benefits as a result of the oil and gas activities. She has also served in leadership roles relating to female involvement in the oil and gas industry, such as chair of the Women in Oil and Gas Conference held in St. Johns.

As an industry consultant with NLOWE, Caron recently lead the development of its new supplier diversity strategy. The goal is to educate, initiate a dialogue and address the serious under-representation of female-owned businesses in the major supply chains of the province. She has provided advice relating to supplier development, advocacy, stakeholder management and offered one-on-one mentoring.
