Fanny Lavigne has been doing outreach workwith teens in Côte-des-Neiges since June 2014, as part of the Prévention CDN-NDG sexual exploitation prevention program. As well as her work on the ground, Fanny has been able to work with youth to create trust, develop protective factors, help increase their empowerment and raise awareness about gender equality. Her educational path includes a technical diploma in Social Work, a certificate in Feminist Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Her studies and experience have provided her a well-rounded outlook when it comes to both social intervention with youth and dealing with the variety of social issues facing the people she works with. Sheis very involved in her community and is a memberof a a variety of committees and issue tables and actively collaborates with a number of partner organizations. She also regularly works with her colleagues from Prévention CDN-NDG to develop and facilitate awareness-raising workshops to develop critical thinking among youth within neighbourhood organizations. This has allowed her to develop a number of informational and awareness-raising tools that are adapted to the specific needs of youth and these organizations.
