COVID-19: How Your Support Helps Women and Girls During the Pandemic

Joanne is a life-long feminist and the proud mother of a grown son, Jarrod, and grandmother to Madison. Born in Montreal, Joanne has for many years made her home in Saint John, New Brunswick. She raised her son as a single mom, having returned to school when he was small, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Concordia University. She then worked in the banking industry for many years. Joanne remains active, having worked part-time for a year (2014 -2015) at the Saint John Learning Exchange, facilitating a class of adult learners studying toward writing their GED. Since 2016 until the present, Joanne works part-time at the New Brunswick Community College, as an invigilator for students requiring special accommodations during testing. Being a great advocate of education, she particularly loves and values both these latter jobs. Joanne has also served on numerous boards and committees. Currently, she sits on the Board of the Saint John Women’s Empowerment Network and deems it an honour to represent this organization on the New Brunswick Women’s Council since 2016. This is an independent council which advises the government of N.B. on matters pertaining to women.
