Johanne Perron has been involved for a number of years in the struggles for women’s equality and social justice. With a Bachelor’s degree in International Development and a Master’s in Environmental Studies, she takes a multidisciplinary approach to these issues. Johanne worked for two years as a project officer for Canada World Youth and one year as coordinator of the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation. She has been the general director of the New Brunswick Coalition for Pay Equity since its founding in 2001. Under her leadership, the Coalition was able to get a pay equity law passed for New Brunswick’s public sector. She is now in the process of pushing for similar legislation for the private sector. Johanne is active in her region, and has contributed to the founding and development of the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation, the Regroupement féministe du Nouveau-Brunswick and the New Brunswick Women’s Council. Thanks to her work and volunteer work, she has gained concrete experience collaborating with a diversity of community, labour, and government actors. She has published nearly a dozen articles and co-edited the collection Vers l’équité salariale with Huberte Gautreau, published in 2014 by Editions Perce-Neige.
