Mercy Lawluvi is the Executive Director of Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO). IWSO is a not for profit organization established in 1988 to provide immigrant and minority women and their families in the City of Ottawa and surrounding area, with the supports and tools to achieve their full potential as members of the Canadian society and participate in the elimination of all forms of violence against women and children. Mercy has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of issues affecting women and is motivated to create positive changes in their lives, particularly those who face multiple challenges including poverty. She is actively involved within the community and represents IWSO in partnerships such as Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI), Ontario Coalition of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI), Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women (OCTEVAW) etc. Mercy also sits on several advisory tables such as OCASI’s Prevention of Sexual Violence and Harassment Project, OCISO’s Advancing Immigrant Women through Mentorship Project. Mercy holds a B.A (Hon.) degree in French from the University of Legon- Ghana, and Canadian college Diplomas in Business Management, Teachers of English as a Second Language, and Social Work.
