Dr. Nancy Edwards (RN, PhD) is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Ottawa (2008), and Professor Emeritus in the School of Nursing, with over 40 years of experience in public health. Dr. Edwards obtained her undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Windsor and completed graduate studies in epidemiology at McMaster University and McGill University. She has become a world-class scholar in the design and conduct of multi-level and multi-strategy community health programs. She held a National Research Chair from 2000-2012 funded by the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ontario Government. From July 2008 to July 2016, she served as the Scientific Director of the Institute of Public and Population Health, Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Among her awards are the University of Ottawa 2006 Award of Excellence in Research, the Tianjin Haihe Award from the Tianjin Municipal Government in China for outstanding contributions to their university and three honorary doctorates. She is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (2007).
