As General Director of the Regroupement féministe du Nouveau-Brunswick, Nelly Dennene in interested in making the connections between different sectors so all those involved can work together to advocate for and raise awareness around gender equality. Nelly has developed an impressive expertise on a number of issues related to equality, including intersectionality, sexual violence, Francophone immigration, gender-based analysis plus(GBA+) and women’s involvement in politics. She has worked on a number of projectsthat have focused on raising awareness to call for collective action includingthe Semaine de conscientisation à l’égalité des genres (gender equality awareness week). Nelly holds a degree in Political Communications, and a Master’sfrom the Université du Québec à Montréal in Political Analysis and Theory. Her research focused, among other things, on feminist and anti-feminist discourse in Canadian foreign policy. She worked as a teacher’s assistant before moving on to project management and research, making use of her multidisciplinary expertise. Nelly is passionate about her work and has helped coordinate a number of conferences and forums in Québecon a variety of sociaissues. She is also active in her community as a feminist organizer.
