Carmen Charron has been working in the not-for-profit sector as an administrator for the past 18 years. Her introduction to this type of work at the grassroots level has been influential in her career path. A passion to support the important work being done, mostly by volunteers, to create and grow inclusive programs for community members was fostered in this environment. She has worked for soccer specific associations at local and mid levels, then worked for Special Olympics Edmonton as Program Manager before accepting an offer to work in her current position as a Senior Administrator with the Alberta Soccer Association where she has been for the past 7 years. In her role at Alberta Soccer she is involved with many branches of the association including the Referee program, the Alberta Major Soccer League, Special Events, and Competitions and Development of Women in Soccer Committee. This diversity in roles has offered her opportunity to gain valuable insight into the issues and barriers women and girls are experiencing in their roles within the organization be they coach, player, referee or board member.
