Chris holds an MSW with a specialization in work with individuals and couples who have experienced interpersonal violence. Chris is a counsellor at Fort Garry Women’s Resource Centre where she provides long- term counselling for women. She also works as a couple’s counsellor with expertise in cases where there has been a history of violence in the relationship. She is passionate about assisting individuals and couples to reflect on re-organizing their lives towards healthier relationships with themselves and their partners. She has extensive group facilitation and public education presentation experience as well as direct practice with culturally diverse populations. Over the past 20 years, Chris has demonstrated her commitment to the field of family violence through participation at the community level. She is a passionate advocate. Chris is an active member of both the Family Violence Consortium of Manitoba (FVCM) and was one of the original members to form the Domestic Violence and Family Law Network sub-committee. In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including the legal system, Family Conciliation, Winnipeg Police, and other service providers, Chris gathered and compiled literature to develop a curriculum for lawyers representing high-conflict cases.
