The community of Pond Inlet will address the issue of Nunavut’s high youth suicide rate and the high number of teenage pregnancies by providing young women with the opportunity to participate in a young women’s hockey program. The community of Pond Inlet believes that, with support from parents, Elder’s teachings of Inuit traditional ways, the hockey program will help boost participants’ confidence and keep them engaged in a positive activity.
